Yeah, it's crazy. Having said that, it s a very good LP, sonically and personally. It's when Beck broke up with his girlfriend. After listening to the opening track, I want to slit my wrists, LOL! Well done IMO.

Its probably a limited edition of 5000, but that wouldn't justify $450 I wouldn't think

Got me. Also don't remember ORG reissuing Odelay as a two record, 45 rpm set. That's going for bongo bucks now too.

The Mobile RSD exclusive pressing on pink wax goes for 300+ the numbered black vinyl a litle less.

His most recent record Morning phase (which is fabulous by the way) is the companion piece to sea change.

There are a few unscrupulous record dealers. Love the eBay dealers who double the price for in print albums. That's why it's always imperative to double check whether Elusive Disc, Acoustic Sounds or Music Direct have the record in stock before buying an album off say eBay.

Or in fact, Amazon who frequently quote prices that already reflect the ridiculous non-stop "10% off this week" pseudo-sales posted by Elusive & the like. In fact their Third-Party vendors are often even cheaper (after allowing for the Postage) and Discogs remains a reliable source of vinyl both new and used.

Beck's "Sea Change" is lyrically brilliant, emotionally moving, musically powerful, and technically peerless. It's one of the very best rock recordings (of any era) available on vinyl. If more rock albums sounded like this, more rock albums would be worth listening to on high resolution audio systems.

I ended up with a copy of Sea Change in a bunch of SACD's I bought from a friend who was getting rid of his SACD collection. Never heard of Beck before (but that is nothing new for me!). How is the SACD compared with the Mofi vinyl. I notice the MoFi is on the new TAS Superdisc list. I should listen to the SACD. It is mch and stereo. Thanks, Larry

From what I've heard, most of the digital releases of Beck's work (including the Hi Rez files) are dynamically compressed compared to the LP releases. I think most are listed in the dynamic range database.

What the heck happened to the HDtracks release???

Interesting that the MOFI LP version definitely improved the DR over the original LP release. Doubt I'll ever see it though because the min $$$ have seen for the MOFI is around three bills.

WOW!! That's a lot for "Sea Change." If it sells for that price I'll be happy. I have 2 MFSL copies. One black LP and the other pink. I also have the ORG box of "Odelay." Yeah me.
