  • Interview With Donovan

One of my all time favorites and his contributions to rock music are vastly under-rated, especially on this side of thevAtlantic. I don't know why his efforts got the label bubble gum music. He wrote the first psychodelic song.

In a freewheeling, often revealing conversation, the Scottish singer-songwriter and Rock Hall inductee talks about his first big hit of the psychedelic era

Donovan Leitch. Not a favorite although I have about a half dozen of his songs on my iTunes. Agree he was underappreciated here.

"Mello Yellow" had people smoking banana peels. "Hurdy Gurdy Man" was arranged by John Paul Jones (of Led Zeppelin) and he played bass - rumors that Jimmy Page played guitar on it. "Sunshine Superman", "Catch the Wind", "Barabajagal" , backed by Jeff Beck, Ronnie Wood and Nicky Hopkins, "Jennifer Juniper", all memorable songs.
