ID:	3101 Now this was weird. I was going through my shelves and found these two 45 rpm versions of Frankie Goes to Hollywood Relax releases. The one with the two people on the cover was a long time copy while I picked the other album last year from someone on eBay someone selling a stack of Frankie Goes to Hollywood EPs (I bought all ten at $3 apiece. What the hell!?!

So I looked at them and they were both released in 1983; one is ZTT 12 ZTAS 1 (produced by Trevor Horn) and the Giant 45 is Island ZTT 0-96975 (also produced by Trevor Horn).

So I listened to the side by side and lo and behold, the two EPs are very different sounding. Of the two, the Giant 45 is far better sounding, maybe a little more dance music oriented with a little bigger mid-bass thump. But the Giant 45 is better in so many other ways; far more holographic, more midrange and information. By contrast the ordinary Relax is thinner, brighter and harsher. Interesting.

Yes I have a few Sade 33 rpm singles that are very good too. Should we open it up to 33 and 45 EPs?

I have some 12-inch Dire Straits am going through right now.

Yello, Yazoo, Human League and Frankie Goes to Hollywood are sonic blockbusters in a different sense. All created by amazing stage and holography.

I had three crates full at one point. I gave them up and went digital in the early 90's. In hindsight, it was not so big a loss since we beat them up pretty bad on the road.

I have a few of those in your pic, Myles. Some additional ones by the Human League, Thompson Twins, Prince, and EBTG during their drum 'n bass phase. And a bunch more too embarrassing to list!

Yes, I think am getting bored and need to explore this genre a little more. Certainly the albums are cheap enough so don't feel bad throwing the mistakes away.

Try some from Yello on Mercury, Myles. They are a lot of fun!

This thread made me go look at my stack in the garage. Found my old Eurythmics 'Would I Lie To You' EP. Need to clean this one up and spin it!

Yes I've been looking through the Yello EPs on discogs. Little easier to hunt there than eBay!

Many of these were TAS Superdiscs. Don't know how Harry got interested in these. I have them as part of my Superdisc collection. Don't think I have every listened to them.

Yes that is how I got started . Then I recently got back into the genre, maybe inspired by Gary Koh who was playing Yello at one of the shows. But some of Harry's EP didn't stand the test of time either. The Lionel Ritchie and Propoganda EPs are awful sounding. Couple of others are just head scratchers. (Yes I know HP loved bass but that doesn't even help here!) But I think it's fun and I'm getting bored with my regular LP hunting.

P.Machinery made it onto HP's list? The single to have from the Secret Wish album was Duel/Jewel. My favorite Propaganda was 1234 which had Heaven Give Me Words even if the beat and bassline was for dancing the running man in super slow motion LOL!
