  • Keith Emerson RIP

Very sad day. Emerson Lake & Palmer are my all time favorite band. To me Keith Emerson was a musical icon. The man who pushed the envelope and exploded the barriers between classical, jazz and rock. The Alpha and Omega when it came to rock keyboardists. The man who defined progressive music. If you believe in such things than surely he's gone off to the great gig in the sky. RIP.

I'll miss him too and what an iconic group with Greg Lake and Carl Palmer. ELP put on one of the best stage shows I've ever seen short of Bowie or Pink Floyd. Saw EPL in '77 at MSG and Keith strapped up with his piano and played it while the instrument spun vertically like a wheel. No, I wasn't tripping!

          Sadly so.
Keith Emerson, founding member and keyboardist of Emerson, Lake and Palmer and a prog rock legend, has died at the age of 71.
