  • 1972 - Ziggy Stardust arrives and some classic Prog takes hold!

And that's in addition to some great solo releases from Neil Young, Nick Drake and Lou Reed.

This was a pretty decent year for me and is well represented in my collection. How does 1972 stack up for you?

    My 1972 list:

    Top 10 - 8
    Top 25 - 15
    Top 50 - 25
Dynavector DV20x2L MC cartridge - Genesis G7.1f speakers - Marantz Reference PM-KI-Pearl Int. Amp. - Oracle Audio Paris MkV turntable - Various Morrow & Valab/King cables

I had all but 3 and 10. Never heard of #10 and #3 not until a couple of years ago. I played one to death and all my college buddies laughed at me. Who's having the last laugh on that one!

What a year though. 1,2, 4,5, 6 and 8 are among the best rock albums all time in my book. Apologies to lovers of Genesis and Nick Drake but they just never did anything for me. Thick as a Brick highly underrated, especially having to follow Aqualung. Close to the Edge and Lou Reed fantastic and do we need to say anything more about Harvest? Exile on Main Street? Now considered the Stones best work and ranks up in the top 10 all time rock albums. Interestingly, Wiki lists Doug Sax as the mastering engineer for Exile on Main Street.

I've been a big admirer oh Can's Ege Bamyasi for some time now. Surprised to see it #10 on a best list...especially compared to some of the other mainstreamers.
