Some of you may be aware of the recording studio that used to exist here in Rockland County, NY. I was called "914" Studios, named for the area code at the time. (That's changed, as have a lot of things). The studio recorded some famous stuff, including early Springsteen, the great Janis Ian "Between the Lines" album and a number of other good records before Brooks Arthur-- who was Phil Ramone's partner at A & R-- sold it and headed to the west coast decades ago.
The studio building is still there, but it is now a car-detailing shop (it started life as a commercial garage, so that's not really too awful, I guess).
There will be a ceremony this Thursday, at the old, funky diner next door- where the musicians and studio hands used to go for burgers and coffee.
I believe the event is open to the public. You may need to RSVP, though. Look it up if interested, or PM me, and I can provide you with the contact info.
