true dat. I was introduced to his music rather late in my music appreciation days, when I got around to listening to his records I fell hard. His vocal phrasing and style were incomparable and what a showman he was. I never saw him perform but a good friend of mine has several times and always ranked Leon as one of the greats in that respect. RIP Mr Russell

      2016 can't be over fast enough. 😪

Leon Russell, who emerged in the 1970s as one of rock 'n' roll's most dynamic performers and songwriters after playing anonymously on dozens of pop hits as a much-in-demand studio pianist in the 1960s, died on Sunday at age 74. Russell, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, died in his sleep in Nashville, Tennessee, his wife said in a statement on his website. Russell suffered health problems in his later years, having surgery to stop leaking brain fluid in 2010 and suffering a heart attack in July 2016.

He was pretty rough last time I heard him. If you don't own a copy of Mad Dogs it is a must have. A standard issue early A&M is fine. What a roster of talent.
On the passing of the boomer generation rockers, we are marking our own time by this. These guys are aren't getting any younger. Bless them for what they gave to us at the height of their powers.

I'm extra glad that I saw him again two years ago at Yoshi's in Oakland. He put on a great show.

Enjoy the greats while you can - none of us are getting any younger,.
