  • Silver Circle Audio Tchaik 6

I just received a Silver Circle Audio Tchaik 6 power conditioner/purifier about a week ago now. I've always been suspicious of the effects of power conditioners on a system. Ones I have tried in the past to clean up my dirty AC have left me less than satisfied - decreased dynamics and a more anemic, recessed sound. Not so with the Tchaik 6. I have experienced increased dynamics, lower noise floor, more detail and increased transparency. And it wasn't subtle either. With my ARC gear, TW front end and Rockport Cygnus speakers, I thought my transparency and detail was great. It is now substantially better. I can't imagine having it out of my system now. Getting a correct power conditioner for a high-end system is a must. The improvement is commensurate with getting a new preamp or new cartridge for a turntable. Highly recommended.

What is the continuous and peak output power in watts or VA? of that model.

I first saw the Tchaik 6 at AXPONA a couple years ago; the guys at Bricasti were using it in their room. Brian (from Bricasi) liked it so much, he bought a second one for his home in addition to the "road" one. Turns out Myles has one too. Then I saw one for sale by the person who fabricates the boxes for Silver Circle. Turns out, this unit was on it's way back to SC for some internal mods. So I bought it, and had it shipped direct
from SC to me. It's been in my system for just shy of a year. I agree with everything you say. I've been completely happy with the unit.

You know, I have no idea. No specs on the website, box or manual. I just know it supplies unlimited power my ARC Ref 250's without any sonic restraints.

I know a dealer who sells two different brands of PLC. Recommends Silver Circle hands down. Congrats on your purchase. Look forward to hearing your listening impressions as it settles in.

Are there fuses on the output outlets?

Phil: Is your entire system plugged into the Silver Circle? I'm beginning to appreciate that the whole system must be plugged into one or two PLC. I just have zero room for anything else in my room.

What is also interesting is how addressing power line issues adds to the holographic effect. For lack of a better description. Think of a giant blob spread out in front of you. Insert a PLC and all of a sudden that blob begins to coalesce and retract from its surroundings. In music terms. not only does the space become instruments become better defined but the separation between the edge of the instrument and the intervening space becomes is sharper.

At the same time, instruments are more solid, not unlike the difference in digital resolution of pictures in the '90s and today. There's just more information there for the brain to reconstruct a more realistic representation of the instrument or say singer.

Here is some news from Dave Stanard from Silver Circle Audio:
"There is no continuous or peak output. Think or a power conditioner (mine anyway) as a pass through device with a certain capacity, in this case, 5,000 volt/amps, or watts, or 5 kVA. IT has no output of its own. It merely cleans and purifies an electrical signal thereby making your music mo better."

Myles, I have my whole system plugged into the Tchaik 6 and the T6 plugged into a dedicated 20A circuit.

Yes - two fuse pods on the back of the unit, both in line with four outlets.

I was going to ask you the size of the fuses, but the article answered the output of the unit, 5KVA.

Phil, seems like you and I are going down the same path....

                              More from Dave:

" “What is the continuous and peak output power in watts or VA? of that model.”

This is not an amplifier and as such it does not have continuous or peak out put power in watts or VA.
The transformer is rated at 5,000 Volt Amps or watts if you like (5 kVA), but that has nothing to do with the output of an amp going into it. "
