  • Turntable Dust Covers and More

Now that I've settled on a table (at least for the foreseeable future), I've started checking out custom made turntable dust covers. And dust cover is the operative term. The table and SRA base just seem to attract dust. Came across these nice Stereo Squares covers online that even have cut outs to allow for phono and electrical cables. Plus will accommodate multiple arms. Anyone had any experience with these (or other) dust covers? Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_3488.JPG Views:	2 Size:	166.5 KB ID:	45767

Plus I have multiple arm wands and love the Stereo Square VPI tonearm wand boxes. Great way of protecting cartridge when not in use. I dig the smoked version! Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_3487.JPG Views:	1 Size:	94.4 KB ID:	45765

Looks great Myles. Is that a Cadenza Bronze on the table? I thought you were a Lyra guy? Is this your table and arms, or just an example of the Stereo Squares from other customers? For an Avenger, at least, don't know of any other that can do all the cutouts for multiple arms. It gets really tricky since it depends on what angle you rest the Avenger on.

I've had three Stereo Squares covers: a shelf top one for a Rega RP-8 when using its skeleton plinth by itself, a plinth-top one for a Classic, and a hinged one for a Prime/Prime Signature. The plinth top one for the Classic was too large to remove and put on the side as it took up way too much room. The hinged one is more space efficient but I need to better isolate the motor and the table from the maple platform on which they sit if I am going to use it. The one for the RP-8 was perfect and was easy to stash while playing records.

I'm going to have to get a couple of tonearm wand boxes as I've yet to find a good storage solution for my two other armwands.
Analog: Holbo Turntable, VdH Crimson Strad XGW; Forsell Air Reference, Transfiguration Proteus; Rega RP-8, VAS Nova Mono
Digital: Mac mini 6,2 with YFS PS-12M LPS; Exogal Comet Plus, Exogal Ion PowerDAC
Electronics: Aurorasound Vida, Channel D Lino C; Merrill Cara, Gryphon M-100 Mkii (pair)
Cables: Morrow, Gryphon interconnects; YFS USB cable; Morrow, XLO, Channel D phono cables; Morrow, Gryphon, Goertz speaker cables

No experience with the Stereo Squares, they look nice......Gingko Audio is another that does acrylic covers, had them do a few for my cleaning machines several years back and they have worked out great with no issues.

Below is one I had made for a third cleaning machine from a place called TAP Plastics that does all things acrylic..... I supplied them the cut out measurements for the power cord and drain tube and used museum grade acrylic, quality was just as good as the above mentioned and price was about $125....added aluminum handles for easy removal with out finger prints

I think Hannl finally has a new U.S. distributor. A good thing. I like his fluid concentrate for my Monks. If I was in the market for a high-end-ish record cleaner, apart from point nozzle types, the Hannl would be at the top of the list.

Yes HannL is back on track in the US, High Fidelity Services is the US distributor......the new generation 24Vdc machines are nice.

Mine is custom made to the dimensions of the Symposium platform with cut outs for the cables. Though not cheap, it was less expensive that the readily available ones from Clearaudio and the likes. I will certainly get another one for my Studer once I get it back from overhaul. When I see the dust that goes over the top in just a few days time, I believe it' s worth every penny.

My brother just dropped this: custom made cover from the same workshop that produced my turntable dust cover.

Well I have been saying going to get one made for my table for ages. Just where am going to put it when playing? Gotta put the speaker grills someone before playing. The take the specially made canvas covers off the tube amps. Then the specially made canvas cover off the tape deck. Too much work! I need a solid state integrated amp and digital!

That is a challenge. Could do what an audiobuddy did. He had someone build and install a system that remote control lifted the cover off his table when he wanted to listen.
