  • Listening Chair, Part Deux

So much for my new listening chair! I serve my Bengals!

All joking aside, the listening chair is an integral part of the audio system. But besides seat height, back height, material and even comfort, positioning even more critical to the final sound. Moving that chair a couple of inches back or forth can produce a sizable sonic difference. No matter what the speaker-stats being the most xtreme example-also benefit from centering between the speakers. Especially in nailing that center image.

Best set of all, it is a free tweak!

Did you engaged them to do PF reviews or are they interlopers? Doesn't look like there's much cat hair...yet.... I'd ask for a lint brush for an early/late birthday present before its too late.

Is that a Line 5 amp or a Fender?

Just a cheap Fender amp for the time being. Even solid-state.

As an exact opposite, the only tube based piece of gear I have is my Fender guitar amp.

Spoken like a true cat owner. And Buddy is a long hair and he's trying to asset his dominance over the new chair too!

I can move my Sopha back and forth and having a line source so called critical sweet spot is not so inportant
to me. Again my small brain thoughts. While at bobs place moving left and right matters more. Also I sit back a bit too. While I love imaging it's a ghost I have got tired of chasing
getting closer is nice too. But for me having the band playing over there and loud is best. I'll bet I am odd man out in this as most things. For me I have wondered do I look to be off a f center or is it just me being odd lol.
Also my speakers do have some odd effects as my kitchen is behind them and they sound pretty good there too. Some 8 feet behind them is the kitchen opening
              bathroom after that.

Dogs too. Although they do cages. Cats are always loose. Down south we just got new furniture so spiky mats are every where. And damn they hurt if you step on them barefoot lol.

That is what I getting at. Having one's ears at the right height in relationship to the drivers with some speakers. Getting the right distance away-just a couple of inches in many cases-locks in the solidity of the center image, dimensionality of instruments and midrange tonality. Best of all, it's free and if doesn't work, no harm, no foul! Just go back to the starting spot.
