What about outer rings? Does anyone other than VPI make these? If so please tell me I would like to get one for my TT setup.

Good question. The one company making outer ring clamps for other tables, TTWeights, is out of business. Maybe one will come up on Agon. My friend did compare the TTW/Copper ring to his VPI though and preferred the latter.
So guess you might call Peter and ask if any of the clamps made say by VPI, Clearaudio, Kuzma, Merrill-Williams, etc. would work with your table.Myles B. Astor, PhD, Administrator

I can't imagine not using one for a tt that has no vacuum hold down and is of the type that works well with the added weight of a ring.

I use the clear audio ring and centre weight I have not tried any other ring but I have tried 2 other weights and the clear audio weight is the best so far.
Not much help but it is my 2 cents worth the other weights were a old Sota clamp and a HRS the clear audio was way better with my rig

Has anyone had an issue with the thin rim of their ring clamps getting bent and not effectively clamping the album? I usually gently lean my outer ring clamp against something when changing records. A while ago, I noticed the clamp wasn't working well and upon further inspection, noticed some parts of the ring that were bent. Very carefully straightened them with some pliers and the clamp worked again. Lately was finding the same thing, and though more subtle and needed to once again restraighten. Now this might not seem a big deal but whatever I did, the turntable sounds so much better tonight. Body and space are really improved. Just another example of the importance of keeping that record flat and carefully clamped to the platter making a real difference.Myles B. Astor, PhD, Administrator
