  • Record Carrying Bags and Totes

I'm always on the lookout for a nice record carrying bag, handy for toting albums to those audiobuddy listening sessions or audio shows. Especially since my favorite black Classic Records bag is coming to the end of it's lifespan and according to Scot, no more exist. It would be nice to have a closed bag like record carry all but even something like a heavy duty, canvas like bag would come in handy. Something capable of holding say 15 or so records plus an ipad or a few other items would be very handy.

Gotta say this list doesn't really do anything for me.

    Open to suggestions from everyone!

years ago, guy lemcoe (Stereophile contributor) used to bring his LP tote to club meetings. it was a hard case that held ~6-8 LPs with a lift up top that had an integral handle. it was hip in a vintage way, he said it dated back to the '50s or '60s. i'm kinda-sorta on the lookout for one.

Hit an outdoors store or college book store and get a small backpack that will fit LPs. Doesn't even have to be camo pattern.

There are hard shell cases with foam lining that you can buy for around 50 bucks, i forget the brand. I have used an archival storage box (which is some kind of low acid paper with metal framed corners), and then put it into a large LL Bean style canvas tote. I don't like transporting records.

I use a RSD plastic/nylon reinforced tote that holds about 20 records. They were given them away during the first or second RSD promo. Have had it for years and it has seen plenty of use...still as good as the day I picked it up.

I've collected enough promo bags at CES and THE Show over the years that are perfectly sized for carrying records. Currently been using one from Devialet that hold about four or five LPs nicely.

Geez you brought back memories. Remember those old, yellow CES canvas bags? They were terrific. Had two of them but long gone. The Classic Records black bags are a close second.

I have a bunch of the black bags with the funky face on them from RMAF that I think I got from Chad's LP stand. They work perfect for me.

I glanced at your post quickly--well very quickly-- and my brain thought it said "Chad's Last Stand."

Found this on Mikey's site. This is something like I was looking for.

Kate Koeppel Design in collaboration with GDS Cloth Goods has just introduced The Record Tote— an LP bag Taylor Swift and every style conscious vinyl fanatic will want be seen with. It's a super-attractive bag made of Japanese selvage denim and 100% made-in-France cotton webbing, hand-crafted in Oakland California.
