A good friend of mine has a vintage built amp that uses the 50 tube, I tried in my system and found it to be no match for my 45 amp! Not even close!

That's why I am careful never to say one tube is better than the other. It's different strokes.... Also depends on the make of tube in the amps and of course the included parts. I've definitely heard good 45 amps and bad 50 amps before, but I prefer my amps to much of what I have heard but that's just me.

I won about 6 pairs of mesh tubes. Some not made anymore from eml and Kron. The eml 274b mesh recti is nice. But all tubes have features that seem to change where they are used be it driver or output.
My lampi can roll many many tubes. Globe mesh is best for me. Solids in globe too. Nice looking amp
