Charlie and Bob Visintainer installing the deck at Rhapsody Music and Cinema. Not quite drop in like a prosumer machine! But well worth the effort!

One really nice feature is Charlie builds both the electronics and power supply into the Studer Deck. Looking a little like a ML5.

I'll leave it for Bob and Charlie to make comments but it goes without saying this was the best I've heard Bob's system sound using the Magico S7s or S5 Mk. 2s and Vitus electronics. Simply a massive, enveloping wall of sound on whatever we listened to whether it was Arnold Overtures (The Tape Project), Jacintha Hears to Ben (Groove Note), Yello One Second (Horch House), The Mark Colby Quartet (Int. Phonograph, Inc.) or even our buddies Richard Brown's recording of Chuck Israel's group in Portland, OR (done with Ewing Nunn's original mikes). The one album that showed that brought out the most oohhs and awws from Bob's system, however, was the original Smoke and Mirrors release on Yarlung Records. Low end through the floor, massive dynamic range and just gobs of transient attack, harmonics and control on the marimba.

And the system will only get better as the electronics burn in. Know if Bob could, he'd still be there listening to tape if he had the software. So expect Bob will be ordering a dozen or so titles to tide him over for the near future.

Yes Bob's Studer is in really great shape save for one little ding. And Charlie has totally gone over the deck, replacing caps, lubing this, fixing that. Bob should have years of smooth operation and great listening from his deck!

Had to take the pics with my phone. Had charged my camera battery but left camera on overnight and for some reason drained the battery. Maybe it is time for a new battery.

I was really impressed with how the electronics handled musical transients and overtones on instruments such as Marimbas. Plus a huge soundstage.
