    After a Four Month Wait My 102 is here

    I was able to buy a very nice used Ampex ATR-102 and a nice used Doshi tape prepro from Jonathan Horwich. His tech, Soren Wittrup, did an tuneup and calibration as well as integrating the Doshi into the setup. We had to wait some time for ATR to provide the 1/2" head stack kit and I had Soren install it before it was shipped out to me. I was fortunate in locating a nearly new road case for the 102 and also an Ampex wired remote unit for it. Everything was extremely well packed and palletized (including the Ampex stand.) We set it up today and now I'm just anxiously waiting for the 1/2" take up reel to arrive to start playing! Shortly after I ordered the 102, I was able to purchase a large collection of prerecorded R2R tapes including 50 1/2" reels! This should be my final R2R machine.
