Myles, having a remote is a very nice luxury for a tape recorder. Dan Schmalle made a wireless remote for my Technics 1506. It plugs into the 11 pin connector on the back. It is at the top of my Bottlehead Technics machine, with the BH tape pre pro at the bottom, just above a fanless ventilation plate. Only play functions, since all the play/record electronics are disabled in the machine. He calls it "Remote Possibility." My Ampex ATR-102 also has a full function remote, which duplicates all the functions on the machine itself, but it is wired - a bit clumsy in my listening room.

someone in Russia is selling RS1500 compatible wireless adapters on ebay for $90. the original wired remote for the RS1500 was kinda rare and pricey if you can find one in good working order

Yes they are rare and pricey. That's why this solution caught my attention. No just need an automatic spoiler. 😎

I found a wireless remote for a Technics 1500 on ebay for $110 plus postage from Portland Oregon. Looks like the actual remote device is a Direct TV remote. Larry

Great to hear. Do you know whether they make them for Otari MX5050BIII's. Larry

WOW!!! That's pretty cool, I still have an original wired remote for the Revox B77. I no longer have the deck so the remote is just collecting dust...
