For many years cassette was the only really portable medium and at the time I was in constant movement around the world. If I wanted to listen to my music cassettes were the only option. So it was boom boxes while away and for better listening a Teac A-800 when back in the states.
The Teac is built like a tank, no plastic and weighs a ton. It has worked flawlessly since I purchased it in 1978. State of the art sound? Not really. But always a source of musical enjoyment.
In this day of flavor of the month components it has been an example of enduring value. Kind of like an acquaintances Mac 240 or another ones Tascam R-10. Built to last.
