I had an MP200 in use about 5 years ago; I think your system deserves a finer cart, though it's not awful. Used it for about two months before I bought the best MM I ever had, an AT150MLX. I guess you're checking things out while you decide how far you're going to go with records?

Exactly I'm curious and clueless too a tough combo to come from
they are ok upper mid fi at best and and since I don't know better it will be a while to move up until I'm confident
so much to learn on setting up the cart alone and listen and take notes

Al you don't dip your toe in the water, you just jump in does the No. 25 use camacs or RCA's? more stuff the think about. it may limit your cable choices to small diameter mic cable. what seamonster said, that and the compliance on the Nagaoka is prob a no-go with the ET arm.

Congratulations on jumping in!.... tape is the real abyss, $500 per occurrence and 20K for some competent 80's hardware to start. You're in cheep... vinyl software is plentiful in any genre for as much or little you want to pay for it.

Its funny because I am just jumping into a digital with a streamer , separate DAC and SSD that I don't know s!$%^ about and am learning fast. I've relented long enough.

The SOTA was among the choices of the Oracle, Linn and VPI back in the day. Nice table.

Likewise, there are lots of analog types here to help.

At your level of digital I am not sure how deeply your analog itch will be scratched. Analog IMO must get pretty pricey to meet current SOTA digital and there are so many variables. I hope you have some fun.

As to my digital exercise, I consider it very safe --really just want to explore and see if I will ever take the next step. I will NEVER spend the time to upload my CDs nor will I ever buy a new spinner. Strictly streaming for me and I will try the Bryston BDA 3 DAC out. I bought previously enjoyed so I can get my investment out for little or no pain... we will see.

                Thanks

I’m in the same digital/streaming boat as you. I’m thinking something like a Bluesound node 2i might be cheap enough and versatile enough to allow me play around without breaking the bank, while still being an improvement over my current iPhone to Bluetooth set up.

Al - your tt and arm can handle a much better cartridge than the denon. I know the denons have their cult status, and it’s fine for you to use it to play with until you get comfortable, just don’t use it to judge the potential of your set up or mc cartridges in general.
