The DS-w1 aka "nightrider" was their top model, it uses a boron cantilever and shibata stylus where the DS001 use aluminum with a line contact styli. The Master series intro'd at AXPONA is, IIRC, 20k. My contact in Japan in who's ears I trust, tells me the lowly DS001 will give you a big slice of what the other two can do. I also understand all three model have seen improvements to both the generator and equalizer...I'm waiting for my dealer to get the 'new and improved' version before I jump in.

                        Myles,

I will let you know in a few days. Hint. It is pretty amazing reproducing female vocals and it is dead quiet.

Even Dart Tater Maul was amazed..................I wonder if it will impress the great Darth Karmeli.

                        David,

The base is an original base from SME (Ibelieve it is 8 mm thick) to raise the arm with some tables. It is, I believe pretty rare and SME now use a plastic spacer, I got it from our friend at Audio Arts in Hong Kong. It allows you to use grommets if you wish.

Jam, it seem you are not using the rubber grommets for the 3012R base. I have ran into issues trying to mount 3012R using existing holes made for SME V that uses bigger screws that didn't let me use the rubber grommets. I am having to wrap the smaller machine screws than what came with V with Teflon tape to mount and to use the same holes and rubber grommets.
