The concern: I think the suspension on my cartridge is compromised.
Symptoms:
1) Images to the right by several db
2) measuring VTF placing it (via hand) onto scale results in a variance of .5 to a full gram depending on how gently I lower it.
3) Doesn't track all that great - can skip forward easily
4) Looking at side profile, the cartridge rides very low to the LP (about a credit card's worth of space).
Regarding #1, if I understand correctly, one channel's worth of information comes from the stylus' ability to move up and down. I'm guessing that if a cartridge's suspension isn't in good condition (e.g. it doesn't spring back fast enough) then one channel of info is very inaccurate.
Thoughts?
Not that it's relevant, the cartridge is a Zyx Universe Premium.
Thanks...
