Couldn’t ask for more. I’m an happy camper!
(so much so I’m selling my Metronome CD8S dac, as good as it is, it just can’t compete with the analog setup - stay tuned for a sale of the dac anytime soon with a killer price).

I’ve always had a warm spot in my heart for Benz cartridges. The Benz MC3 was my first over $1000 cartridge some 30 years ago (?).

Dynavector so rarely adds new cartridges or revises current models. Yet they continue to sell year in and year out.

                • Dynavector 19A MK II - the little brother of the 17D3, and only available for a short time. I've had this since 2002. It replaced a Talisman-S. It has the same Karat body as the 17D3, but a solid, tapered aluminum cantilever that is only 1.9 mm long, and a Super Elliptical stylus. What I love about it is how it runs super quiet in the groove, and has some of the lowest noise I've heard. Playing my records on other people's tables always seems to have higher surface noise level. It is very dynamic and never fatiguing to listen to.

That is a VPI headshell weight between the cartridge and headshell. I need it as my early Ittok arm has the original counterweight and it is too heavy to balance out. This gets the resonance in the right range and balances perfectly. I track it at the recommended 1.9 g.

As old as it is, I've been looking to replace it, and had lined up an NOS 17D3 from a friend (who was going to give it to me!) but I waited too long to pick it up and he sold it to someone else.

Now I am thinking about maybe having either this or the Talisman-S rebuilt by Soundsmith. It would only be $300 for the sapphire cantilever rebuild. Though that would have to wait a while.

Unless someone here has something better they might part with at either no or very low cost!

Master Signature on 3012R as I listen mostly to classical, and acoustic small scale plus choral music. Some jazz too. This combination is more resolving, has more energy, and sounds a bit more natural to my ears. The other combination sounds great on jazz and some strings/horns as it's strength is midrange richness and body.
