I actually thought this Lyra sounds faster than other Lyras - that would have been incredible

Great news. We'll have to compare notes. The Atlas is just so powerful and resolving I'm interested on how the Etna SL will fare in my own system.

For me, I know that Lyra cartridges have been long-term reference cartridges for both Myles and Andre. I have been to Andre's house several times and have listened to several different Lyra cartridges at his house for hours on end ( Dre has two Basis tables). The sound that Dre is achieving in his system is the same kind of sound that I enjoy listening to: Big soundstage, full-range, great dynamics, and very, very good extended, clean, and well defined bass down to the bottom octave. After hearing Andre's rig and listening to what both Myles and Andre had to say, I just felt I couldn't go wrong with the Etna SL.

I already have the Atlas and have been playing with it since last summer when I can. I think now it is just breaking in. My listening experiences tell me that the Etna has a little more soul than perhaps the Atlas and that it maintains linearity and slam.

I have had a few Lyra cartridges overtime and the Etna in the SL version I think will tick the boxes. The "SL" version makes it that much more interesting. I'm not sure if Lyra makes a bad cartridge now a days.

The other aspect for me is being able to acquire it from a trusted source dealer that I have dealt with in the past. Some of the more interesting cartridges may leave me at the mercy of unknown agents- which I try to avoid.

You'd think an authorized Audioquest dealer would meet that last criterion.
