I've been told about 50 hours or so but will need to see for my self......I'm thinking the phono stage will need a bit more time to settle..

They did a nice job with the cartridge box, a solid piece of aluminum machined out.....no worries of crushing this one!!

is the stylus user replaceable, or do you need to have it retipped when it wears out?

With electronics $5000. Remember you don't need a phonostage.

that's pretty reasonable considering it includes the optical-phono converter electronics. Wonder how it compares to say $3000 conventional carts ( allowing $2k for a phono stage )..

                      Yes $5000 includes phono stage......needs to be re-tipped $1500

Another thing with the DS Audio is all the cartridges and phono stages are compatible with one another.....so one could mix and match if they chose to go down the path.

Jeff, one thing I never asked them about is why a Shibata stylus and not something a little more current?
