Cartridge boxes sure aren't what they used to be for the good cartridges. Sure Grado put cartridges in a paper tube and some used plastic tubes but as prices went up boxes got better. Now just a cardboard box.

It's a $700 cartridge. Do you want a $500 box to go with it?

I would think that a box that one would feel comfortable putting a fragile cartridge in to protect it would be good to have. Many cartridges have this, but as stated many don't. If one gets this cartridge and has a big buck cartridge without the box for some reason, I have a couple I would like to protect if not on a table, then getting a box that would allow attaching the cartridge so it would not move, since one of mine does not have a stylus guard either. would be nice to get with a new cartridge. Just commenting.
Hell a couple hundred bucks for cables gets some nice packaging, sometimes nice enough to make a cartridge storage box.

I read that Allen Perkins designed their turntables. Myles, do you know who makes cartridges for MoFi?

Let's give credit to MoFi for bringing a $700 cartridge to market and not inflating the price by giving you a fancy box. It's a MM and it has tons of gain which means it will work with virtually any phono stage. Let's see what Myles has to say after he reviews it.Micro Seiki SX-8000 table with flywheel, SME 3012R arm, SME 312S arm, Lyra Etna SL and Dynavector XV-1S cartridges, ARC Ref 3 phono stage, Otari MX-55 tape deck, Ampex 350 repros, Roon Nucleus Plus server, PS Audio DSJ DAC, ARC Ref 6 pre, ARC Ref 75 amp, JBL 4345 speakers, and Def Tech Ref subs.

Smart move. I hadn't realized they were also launching turntables. They have built a loyal following for the "new" MoFi among not only those who remember the original company, but among new audiophiles. Makes total sense to carry over brand loyalty, given the multitude of choices out there for the audiophile that isn't in the market for a cartridge that costs more than your station car.

Takeda also made cartridges for Mark Levinson, Krell and Red Rose Music. What a beast to set up.Myles B. Astor, PhD, Administrator
