ID:	36007 I had a number of phono cables with DIN connectors on hand including my go -to Hovaland which is surprisingly very balanced and very good. I wanted to try something different.

I ordered from Parts Connexion some Jupiter solid silver 28 gauge wire wrapped in silk sheathing and some Eichmann or I guess now KLE RCAs along with a 1877 Phono gold DIN plug for my Brinkmann 12.1 configuration.

This combination is killer for the the price all in under $150 or so and an hour's worth of work. I had the expandable sheathing from another project.

I have since gone with a more complex braid with the same materials. The body is there with tons of detail it is quite amazing- worth the effort if you're inclined.

you got away w/o a shield for the entire length or just where the wire exits the flextech braid? you were lucky you didn't pick up stray hum. I haven't used the silk wrapped Ag that Chris sells but have used solid core bare Ag wire I insert through teflon tubing. the KLEs are an excellent choice for plugs as are the WBT nextgen. for RCAc I now use Aural Thrills plug with barrels milled from solid PTFE and hand annealed silver contacts, the best sounding plugs I've tried thus far.

No shield only where the wire exits the flex braid....this was a quick experiment so I didn't invest beyond the KLEs. The environment I am in now is "rf free".

Rob - What are your findings regarding the solid core silver 28ga or 30ga? in Teflon tubes? I have been tempted to try this...I wish Nordost would sell raw wire for this purpose since the VPI tonearms are Nordost Silver already...Thanks

No issue using solid core with regard to flex? When I diy'd a phone preamp I used all solid core and it def doesn't want to be bent around a lot especially at the connection point...

Not really, of course, solid core of this gauge does not take aggressive handling. Extra care at the connectors with heat shrink and a dab of hot melt does it. These cables are not pulled and reconnected often--- in fact better for them to stay in place so that they settle than rearranging them constantly.

I was really looking for your thoughts on the sound using the solid silver in Teflon tubes vice something else. I decided to order all the parts to make up some new 30ga solid silver phono cables with the large Teflon tubing. Very anxious to see if it makes a difference. Something fun to do anyway.
