Does anyone know of a manufacture that makes a balanced input and output tube phono stage?

All tube? Nothing but tubes? Pure tube phono sections are rare birds today.

Sorry to be dense this AM Marty. Pure tube or pure tube plus balanced?

First phonostage that comes to mind is the Aesthetix Io with its 16 tubes. And even those small signal tubes can heat up a room!

16 tubes in a phono stage would be me insane. Actually I think 16 tubes in any piece of gear would kill me.

I have a friend who has a Rhea phono stage. Tube noise beyond belief. I can only imagine what the Io must sound like.

It's not a fully tubed unit, but Nick's phono stage has either a differentially balanced or transformer balanced design. My tape unit has both. I'm sure he can incorporate that into his phono unit.

Thrax Orpheus phono stage is balanced (in/out) and has tubes.

Einstein Audio is introducing a new phono stage next week. When I spoke with them at CES 2015 they said it would be a tube unit. They showed a prototype at recent shows but no indication if its tubed or not. I guess we will know next week.

Thrax Orpheus is a really nice looking piece of equipment. If I did my conversion right it is close to $20,000.00. What about a fully balanced phono tube preamp priced available to the masses?

Doesn't exist. Only chance you will have is if the Einstein is tubed. Projected price is $12k I believe.

I found the Balanced Audio Technology VK-P12SE. Has anyone heard or owned one and can comment on the sound?

Marty does it have to be tubed? Lots of SS options.

I have two SS phono preamps at the moment and am looking for some tube magic. Vinyl just doesn't seem right without tubes.

I would compromise on some sort of tube hybrid. Years ago, hybrids were like the TD Lysenko experiment. Cross a radish wish a cabbage and get the roots of the cabbage and leaves of the radish. Today, especially depending on your cartridge, pure tubes aren't quiet enough and if they start out that way, how long will they stay that way? Newer hybrids like my Doshi can fool you and are less colored and quieter. Just something to think about.

Since I don't know what you are using now I can't even make a snide remark. 😀

I've been using the ASR Basis Exclusiv for years and don't feel as though its really lacking in too many areas. I've demoed it against expensive tube and solid state phono stages and beat them all handily.
