Anyone hear the new Zesto Tessera or have any impressions?

I heard it at RMAF, but not enough time to form any opinions. It sure looks cool and if it's better than the Andros 1.2, it should be very nice indeed.
Micro Seiki SX-8000 table with flywheel, SME 3012R arm, SME 312S arm, Lyra Etna SL and Dynavector XV-1S cartridges, ARC Ref 3 phono stage, Otari MX-55 tape deck, Ampex 350 repros, Roon Nucleus Plus server, PS Audio DSJ DAC, ARC Ref 6 pre, ARC Ref 75 amp, Parasound JC5 amp, JBL 4345 speakers, and Def Tech Ref subs.

I think Mark and I spent time in the Zesto room this year. I was a little underwhelmed; perhaps that was because the room suffered by comparison to previous years. I though the room this year with the Marten speaker was a bit bass shy for me. But that is no reflection on the Zesto gear in my estimation.

I would have posted something about the room but for some reason, I lost some pictures this year. My notes read that the new phonostage ($12K) has balanced input (true transformers with floating ground) and output transformers and dedicated audio tubes. The phonostage also has dedicated SUTs for each input. The unit also has three gain positions with George aiming for lower noise and increased dynamics with separate PS.

Now that I'm temporarily caught up on my reviews, I need to finish my RMAF thoughts. Myles and I did spend time in the Zesto room and they did not have the SQ this year that they have had in past years. I'm certain it wasn't due to the electronics. I do have some pictures of the Zesto room Myles.

I have one on audition. Beautiful sounding, definitely a phono stage for those who are partial to the traditional tube traits of warmth, liquidity, and an oh so seductive midrange coupled with a relaxed and airy presentation that is never aggressive. It strikes the fine balance of being somewhat forgiving without sacrificing detail.

For those who aren't up on George's latest creation--and I wasn't--here's some info.

                Key Features
                • Two completely independent dual mono channels, with LED indicators for A and B
                • Accommodates 4 tonearms, 1 MM and 1 MC per channel
                • All settings are saved when you switch between channels
                • Dual chassis with external power supply
                • 3 meter umbilical cable incorporating special RFI suppression to provide lower black levels
                • Dedicated high quality output transformers drivin by output tubes
                • True floating ground, transformer balanced XLR inputs and outputs
                • 12 position MC load per channel with more finessed adjustable options like 1000, 800, 700, 500, 400, 350, 300, 250, 200, 150, 100, 50 Ohms
                • Easily adjustable MC “Load on the fly” without klicks or pops so you can hear the change
                • 100% tube circuitry in the signal path without any solid state devices
                • All switching is done with relays
                • Ground lift switches are on each channel to prevent noisy ground loops
                • All the RCA and XLR connectors are Gold plated for better conductance and lower corrosion
                • All switches and knobs are easily accessible, nothing hidden inside to adjust
                • Recessed RCA connectors are durable and will hold up to the typical Audiophile who loves to change their configuration
                • Elegantly designed 16 gauge steel enclosure to help isolate the electronic “chatter” from nearby equipment
                • Each unit is hand built “Made in the USA”
                • 50 hour factory burn in on all circuits and vacuum tubes
It's fascinating how the latest generation of phonostages offer unprecedented levels of quietness as well as flexibility allowing the end user to extract the impossible from a cartridge.

I like it...do you know what kind of tubes are used and where in the circuit?

                  Ed

Forget that request, I looked it up on their website. Its a 12AX7/12AU7 unit.

                  V1 - 12AU7/ECC82 = Left Output Tube V4 - 12AU7/ECC82 = Right Output Tube
                  V2 - 12AX7/ECC83s = Left Input Tube V3 - 12AX7/ECC83s = Right Input Tube
                  V6 - 12AX7/ECC83s = Left Driver Tube V5 - 12AX7/ECC83s = Right Driver Tube

                  3 position Gain MC input 60dB, 65dB and 70dB
                  3 position Gain MM input 40dB, 45dB and 50dB
              Working...
