Nice! Which tables are connected to each? I know you have a Pioneer Exclusive, but can't recall the other.

Mine is a Trulife Argo from Greece. SUT to tubed MM. 12AX7/12AU7 with EZ81 rectifiers. All transformers are made in house, all point to point wiring.

Last picture shows how big it is (~45lbs) compared to a Schiit Ragnarok speaker/headphone amp and TASCAM DA-3000 in my rack.

        Chris,
is that the phono stage / company that kronos' Louis D is partnering with to develop a new phono stage? I recall some talk about that at the montreal show in the spring.

Yes. This one was the prototype and is the exact phono stage Louis was using this year in Montreal. (funny, in a weird twist of fate I now own a Kronos Sparta, Zyx Omega Premium and this phono stage which comprised the analog front end Kronos used at the Montreal show so if you were there you have effectively heard my setup!)

The Kronos branded ones will have the power/signal portions in separate boxes. I've seen the boards at the Kronos factory in Montreal but I have not seen the final casework. Louis is very very good with design so I expect it will be excellent.

Sweet! I heard it at the show. Along with the nagra and joseph, and a serious mass of tangled kubala sosna loom, it sounded incredible. Looking forward to what Louis settles on.

Always been intrigued by hagtech. Is it neutral or does it have a sonic character?

Sorry, hadn't seen your comment before. The Trumpet is very neutral but has a great bloom depending on the tubes you swap into it.

A friend of mine runs the same phonoamp. It´s easily the best one I´ve ever heard. The IO left the Simaudio Moon 810LP/820S sounding gray and lifeless.

They make amazing phonostages and amps! This is the simplest model and it still stands head shoulders above other phonoamps at its price (about 15000 SEK or about $2000).

Arrived yesterday. I gave on the (frustrating) notion of bringing in alternatives for a listen and went where I knew I'd end up. Now for a bit of cap run-in . . .

I've thought about it but haven't made up my mind - it would be my first time with such. Traditionally I bore the break-in au natural and with courage. :-). I've read around 200-300 hours it goes south for a while, returning with great wonderfulness at 400 hours and then a glide path through 600. I'll feel that I know the thing better if I go with it, rather than asking a robot to work it out. We'll see...

I don't think they upgrade to SE version but even they do I wouldn't. I have already tried the SE version at home and didn't enjoy as much as I did Ref 2 . SE version is more dynamic at the highs which I am not after. Ref 2 has old fashioned ARC sound and perfect fit to my Ref 40 Anniversary. SE version may sound better in a different system but that wasn't my case.

Here's my current phono stage: ModWright PH-150 Reference tube phono. For the past year, I've been using this with my Dynavector XX2-MKII moving coil cartridge. Excellent build quality and much ease of adjustment via front panel controls.

Not shown in this photo is the ModWright power supply for this unit, which is attached with umbilical and placed several feet away from the phono stage.

RoadDawgWest I've never been totally sure what "noise floor" in audio means or how it is perceived, to be honest. But this ModWright phono stage is very quiet with the Dynavector low output MC that I'm using. No noise issues whatsoever, so far as these ears are able to tell.

                Your response answers my question.
I've experienced phono stages that exhibited noise with low output MC cartridges at normal listening levels, noticeable in quiet passages of classical music. When playing music at normal listening levels and then lifting the cartridge from the record you could hear noise from the phono stage. Typically from lower gain phono stages, and tube designs. All equipment make noise, and some equipment have better performance than others. The PH-150 appears to have plenty of gain.

RoadDawgWest Plenty of gain with the PH-150 and absolutely no noise issues, as you've gleaned from my earlier reply. Come to think of it, I haven't had noise issues as all since I put in dedicated AC lines (before acquiring the PH-150).
