Has anyone used the Audiomods tonearm. More precisely, has anyone build and or used the arm kit II. How much of an improvement, if any, were it over the standard RB303 found on my PR6. Yes I have tricked out my tonearm as far as possible. Also, would my $ be better spent getting a Origin Live. The Encounter is around $1,750 and the Audiomods is about $365. I like $365. Thanks

I have considerable experience with the Audiomods tonearm as I was having a special version built for me for a couple of years (the KOSMIC version). It was OK for the money, but not capable of ultimate performance. I do not like the use of ceramic bearings. Hopefully, his design and manufacturing have improved.

Just an FYI. People talk of taking the VTF spring out of the Rega tonearms. Origin Live brags of doing this and getting all sorts of performance gains. I did it and don't know I like the sound. The spring was definitely acting as a damper. Maybe also smoothing the sound. I find it a little too bright now. I find it kind of hurts my ears. There is no way to reinstall it unless you have a machine shop and a press. Now I have a worthless tone arm. Live and learn. At least a Moth is only $550 or so. Not like I hurt my bank account that bad. Just annoying to go backwards. My wife is not that happy. First I was happy as a clam when I modded my RP6 table. Leave it alone she said. Did I listen. No.

I have owned 3 different Versions of this Arm. The most convincing for me was the Serie V without the Micrometer and Copper internal wiring with a DIn Plug. I had Problems with the Silver wire and the Micrometer Tower. Have since moved on to a Roksan PUG

Do you still have one you would be willing to part with. Jeff says he is way behind. Also, what about the classic without the micrometer. That is what I asked him about since the series 5 is not a kit.
What about the Origin Live Encounter. I have a Rega table so I'm looking for a drop in replacement. Thanks

I still have a series V at the Shop mounted to a Roksan Xerxes. Need to check if it has a Din Plug or a continous loom. Personally I would not bother with the Kit and go straight to a complete arm unless your budget is very restricted. Mounting to a Rega deck will not be a Problem as the hole fits well even if you have a 3point mount. I always found the Origin live to be very expensive for what they are compared to the Audiomods Arm. Never made any sense to me to trash the structural integrity of the arm tube, for the sake af attaching a different headshell. You can always sell your arm you have now and buy a complete new arm. thats what I would do if the waiting list is to long for a trade in.

What a wicked thing to do, to make me jealous of you ;-)

Seriously; I am a big fan of Touraj's work. Unfortunately very hard to come by over here, so let us know what you think of the Arm when you get it.

Joe helped me install the new arm. I got it home, started plugging equipment in and the power supply on my phono preamp let out a load POP and Flash. Off that went for warranty repair. I am really starting to miss my TT. I have only had digital to play for about 9 weeks now.

I am looking for a used Pivot to Spindle measuring tool. Does anyone have an old one they want to let go. $50 / $75??? While my table is down I have been messing with it again. I posted about the "Hot Rodded RP6". I am getting the Lim bottom brace as another tweek. That requires I reset the length. My only home tool to do the job is a ruler. Thanks
