Peter Cheon of KLaudio made a visit to set up his new tonearm. To save time, he used one of my existing Denon DL-103R cartridges already mounted on a SME headshell. The set up took less than 10 min before playing music. The plan is for me to learn how to install the tonearm and use KLaudio supplied headshell and a different cartridge but have same cartridge on my ddk supplied SME 3012R as a second tonearm.

Peter was by my place yesterday checking out the arm mounting system on my VPI Vanquish table. Looks like the arm will be here too in a little while. Should be interesting to play with and hear. Someone asked about the price. Peter said the arm will run $6000.

Myles, correction on the price. It seems Peter may have misspoke on the list price of the tonearm when he got excited visiting you in NYC. Currently they are going with $8,500 introductory offer for a period of time and then the price would return to $10,000 range. I will see him again this week to confirm.

Here's the latest installation instruction video. Tonearm mounting is similar to Ortofon arms with a round hole or a slot. I have mine installed over SME arm mount opening with an adapter that covers with smaller diameter in a slot. It would be easy to drill a hole on a blank tonearm board as you would do for an Ortofon arm. Thus the thumb screw shown at the base of the arm sets rough VTA and then the tall cylinder knob post in the back with graduated vertical scale adjusts fine VTA. The VTA can be adjusted while the music is playing which makes it a no brainer on which position sounds the best. However, I had to be careful not to move the arm while turning the knob.
