  • Is design the holy grail?

As an example of design the Cue turntable makes a bold statement in a very different direction than Kronos and similar designs. And yet it stakes a claim to similar standards and results delivered. Has anyone heard it yet to offer us their impressions?

I think it will be shown for the first time in the UK at the National Audio Show this weekend.

what results are those? A lot of manufacturers claim to be different, time will tell if the Cue is special or an also ran. Glancing at the spec sheet I didn't spot any design features that are unique to the Cue.

It certainly is striking visually. Hopefully the white platter doesn't pick up black from vinyl.

I think there's a point where one exceed the limits of the equipment commonly used criteria to measure turntable specs. Or say at least macro speed fluctuations. But then there's micro speed fluctuations and how do you correct for these speed variations. Sometimes correcting for speed fluctuation too rapidly can be as bad as correcting too slowly.

And speed control is just one of many variables that go into turntable design (besides obviously arm and cartridge).

            That pic not accurate

            it's a total copper platter...

Plinth or platter? Plinth is black.

Web site says plinth aluminum. No mention of platter. If it is copper - that is super heavy and coupled to a DD motor?

Yes. The plinth is black and the platter in this photo is apparently all copper. If you open the site shown in the original posting the photo shows a copper platter from the side but white on top. Which is correct?

One thing that catches my eye. Putting speed controls, etc. on the right side of the table under or near the cartridge is asking for trouble.
