  • Windows 10 updated automatically?

started up my music server notebook before heading to the gym (it was asleep) and when I got back it appeared to have crashed. When I restarted it, it went into a "restoring previous Windows version." After the restore finished it gave me. "Windows 10 installation failed" message.
What the hell is Windows doing trying to update itself without me approving it?

There was a message somewhere that told you about the installation and you didn't click postpone.

I tried installing Windows 10 on my old computer that had been using Windows 7 and it was a total disaster. Had to uninstall. Among the things wrong, it wouldn't let me connect to the internet. Happened to my wife who had Windows 8 and it had one bug that I fixed for her and Heidi's machine is running fine.

My new computer has Windows 10 and it has operated without a hitch.

I'm still on Win 7 and so far I'm staying as my Photoshop programs are not supported on Win10

I have Adobe creative suite CS2 on my personal notebook and it won't run on win10. But the music server I'll update soon.

Same thing happened to me last week. I had been getting daily messages asking me to upgrade for sometime on my music server and I just ignored them. My JRiver 20 was running just dandy with Windows Home 7 Professional (or whatever BS name they call it). Bottom line is that Windows got tired of me blowing it off and somewhere sometime I had clicked "accept" on the terms and conditions of Windows when Bill Gates still had pimples which gave them the rights to my first born child, access to my 401K, and they are automatically written into my will to collect 50% of my net worth.

My new little HP Elitebook office computer has Win 10, and I actually really like it (Win10, not the stupid little HP notebook/tablet piece of crap). I just don't want it upgrading my own PCs until I am ready. Someone from Positive Feedback upgraded his music server to Win 10 recently and said it worked really well. Just don't remember who it was.

I don't run my laptops (I have 3) as servers, but I really quite like WIN10. I also stopped using my Adobe programs and Dreamweaver years ago when I had a passing interest in web design, so I have no program incompatibility issues at all. Thankfully!
