How do most DSD 256 DACS work? Do you buy an external DAC and connect it to your PC via the USB port? Are there any built in motherboard solutions for DSD yet in the pc world?

Glad to see you were able to get the Free DSD 256 sampler.

An excellent marketing move. iFi gets to emphasize the DSD 256 abilities of their portable DACs and Native DSD gets some sample DSD 256 files out there for listeners who may want to buy the whole albums they came from later on.

Brian, thanks for getting us the downloads. I will try to play them tonight. I looked at the NativeDSD catalogue for the Quad DSD albums and I noticed that they are now carrying quite a few albums from Bob Witrak of High Definition Tape Transfers. Do you know whether these are the same ones that Bob is selling on his website. Bob has been my main source of Quad DSD for some time. I want to make sure I am not buying the same files twice! I probably will pick up some of the Yarlung albums also. I have most of them as R2R tapes but some titles are not in R2R. Also saw several of Jonathan Horwich's tapes converted to Quad DSD which Bob Witrak converted and has been selling . Looks like quite a few of the Quad DSD albums are from. top notch R2R. I will probably break down and buy a couple of the Quad DSD versions of the R2R tapes that I have to compare. At 10% or so of the cost of the R2R, they are a potential major bargain.

The DSD 256 albums from HDTT are the same ones on their web site. This is very similar to the arrangement with other labels like Pentatone where the label has a web site selling downloads but also sells DSD via Native DSD Music.
