  • Is it possible to get good sound from iHeart Radio?

The first station I tried (98.7 West Palm Beach, FL) has screechy highs, is this my setup or just the way iHeart Radio sounds?

That's weird, they don't boost the highs and lows for normal over the air broadcasting but they do for the internet, I guess they are trying to compensate for crappy computer speakers.

Most radio stains do both eq and companding
But not all of course . Now digital broadcasted music is another issue . It comes down to bandwidth they have . On xm radio it's obvious they give premium channels better sound ad of course music as well . Bt go to a news channel it's horrible . Same goes for Internet radio channel's. So they may boost to make it sound better . But tidal a d a fw others gives way above board for all of it . They also give yu choices of what fidelity you want where too .
        analog stuff.

I have some pretty good fm tuners here and use an outdoor antenna. While nearly all the fm stations (analog) use some or a lot of compression, for the most part EQ is OK.

Years ago I used a Sony ES rec , I still own it but as it does not have have HD and the amount of streaming content with no commercials I ,lost interest. My feelings on the sound was always bad lol. Now regarding now regarding streaming on the internet there is plenty and a wide variety of quality most that I cannot play on my big rig it's just too poor

internet radio seems to be better suited to low level background music on the PC while web surfing rather than serious listening on a high end audio system.

As far as radio broadcasts go, no. But to make things worse, Iheart radio seems to have a virtually unchanging playlist, playing the same songs at the same time for weeks on end.

I have the same problem with my local fm broadcast classic rock radio station.

Typical of consolidation of radio stations, one company buys them all up and then cuts costs to the bone by hooking all stations to the corporate server. The only thing which doesn't come from corporate are the local commercials. Another case of modern business and technology providing less quality and diversity.

I say no first you cannot control the broadcast or the quality of the transmission or the reception. I just use "radio" as a music fill in.

For in NYC local is not good but he HD channels play less commercials and are cleaner in sound . I know HD does not mean high def lol but it is better
there is a classical station that I support it plays better than any other does and is vey dynamic in fact too so
as soft passages are too low and when it ramps up it's too loud
it plays in my place weather I am home or not on my Bose radio
yea a Bose near my big rig
