According to Audio-gd, Dac's with the Amanero USB set-up will work with UAC2 compliant kernel.

Never heard of it. Does it claim to be better lol. I have tried so many and all the add ons as well its mind boggling to me. The best I ever got and use is simple win server 2012 and audio optimizer , after that fidilizer is a nice to add on. But the caps you build matters as much and more . What I don't get is someone with a hi end dac and laptop or simple desk top .
      analog stuff.

I've sent them an email asking some specific questions. Mostly I want to install it on a 64 GB SD Card that I can leave in the SD card slot on the notebook. They don't recommend setting it up in a dual boot configuration.

If i may give some advise on digital audio . In general. Most look for a fix in software and yes there is answers there. But unless it's built on a sound CPU setup as In a audio computer as a source the improvement is limited to'it. I feel analog is better in how it pleases us , there is no doubt in my world . I think spec wise digital may be better . But in audio better is just one way to measure great ness When i play ripped vinyl or tape transfer its always something different then pure digital in any format . Even the best I own in digital comes from it. My reason for this comment in this post is this. Unless you start at a great computer the rest can be ok but never as good as good analog even if it's from it.

First of all, this isn't an analog versus digital debate. I listen mostly to LPs, but enjoy also having a decent digital rig. Second, the series I have been writing for Positive Feedback has been titled "Computer Audio on the Cheap!" so there is a reason I am keeping costs down. I found "Audiophile Linux" from a Google Search when another friend suggested, Jokingly I believe" that it was time for me move to Linux.Seeing how it is free, and how it is supposedly geared specifically towards computer audio, It seems like it is something worth looking into.

I guess sometimes questions asked are just that, questions to see if anyone has experience or knowledge of a specific thing.

I don't know who you are or what you do and in no way did I have any bad or snob intentions. Regarding Linux I cannot say I have any experience with it. What little i do know is it's a stable OS
amd some of store bounty servers use it.
                    Again sorry for insulting you.

The Audiophile Linux guy finally responded to my questions. Not sure i will try it now:

Sorry for the late reply. I was on holidays and didn't have time to respond.
                    1. Can AP-Linux be run off of a 32 or 64 GB SD Card from the built in card slot on my notebook?

I don't know. You will have to try it yourself.
2, Is it easy to switch USB DACs? As a writer/reviewer, I tend to switch DACs fairly often, though
mostly use iFi iDAC2. I currently have five asynchronous USB DACs to use.

It is. You don't have to switch it at all. You can connect four DACs at the same time if you
                    have enough USB inputs.
3, Is it relatively easy to optimize with JRiver Media Center for Linux with AP-Linux? I have been
using JRMC since version 16 on Windows, and very much like it's organization and smart list functions.

Jriver is not supported on AP-Linux. Sorry.
                    4. If I do choose to install it in a dual boot system (already on Windows 10) will other Linux
                    dual-boot instructions work?

It will if you know how to do it. It's complicated if you are not Linux power user.
The notebook is a Asus UL80J (Intel i3, 4 GB RAM, fairly basic unit). It has run great as a server in the
past, except recent Windows 10 updates have been causing issues by loading incompatible drivers. All music
files are on an external USB hard drive, a mix of 16 and 24 bit PCM and DSD (mostly dsf) files.

My advice to you is stay away from USB disks. They are always making problems. If you can, build a real
                    PC. Don't use laptops.

                    Nice regards,

                    Marko Lerota

Windows Server 2012? Didn't realize they offer a free download of that. Always assumed there was now way to get around their expensive seat licenses. Do a lot in 2012R2 at work. Thanks for the tip.
