    Quality usb dac on a budget...Dragonfly Black

    Since I was using the motherboard audio chipset for ny pc audio, when the "on board" DAC failed I looked for an outboard replacement

    Ended up trying a dragonfly black, only $79 new, Even though ihis is their entry level model its still much better than what it

    replaced. Tighter bass. highs are less bright. and last but not least, More Dynamic Range. Highly recommended for the price range.

    Just listened to golden earrings radar love on spotify. wow this dac has refined highs; NEVER heard anything on spotify that good before. The more I listen, the more Iike this dac.

      Agreed, it is a great DAC at its price range. And if you stream from Tidal it is an MQA renderer. I used one in my desktop system, to stream Tidal or Qobuz and it drove all my headphones nicely. I've now replaced it with the iFi iDAC2 that I used to use in my main system, but with a camera kit and a backup battery I now use it with iPhone when travelling.

      And it is a substantial improvement over the original Dragonfly.

        I'm not using it as a direct headphone amp; I distribute the analog output of the dragonfly to my hi end headphone amp for critical listening and to my preamp for speaker listening; This is all on my second/ PC / Digital / Bedroom system.
