I know I cant tell the difference between ADCs on my home system because I only have and use one, the Realtek HD Audio Chipset in my PC. I'm tempted to try an outboard, but why bother, its a hassle and the realtek sounds excellent.

Fremer's A/D recording technique/comparison leaves a lot to be desired!
