I know I cant tell the difference between ADCs on my home system because I only have and use one, the Realtek HD Audio Chipset in my PC. I'm tempted to try an outboard, but why bother, its a hassle and the realtek sounds excellent.

Analog to Digital Converters (ADCs) - Can You Hear A Difference?
There's some debate on the web about whether or not an audiophile can hear a difference between recordings made with ADCs from a variety of pro audio makers.
You can explore this question by listening to some Free Demo files on the web comparing the sound of different DSD ADCs.
Download these and see which sound the best to you.
