    how much power do you need? also, integrated amp or plain power amp? Justin Weber makes a killer 25 wpc power amp for $600. Pretty much a gain clone. Sounded wonderful in my system.

              Schiit Vidar will be out soon, 100 wpc for $699. Physically small for a class AB amp. 100 wpc. Sounded great driving every speaker we tried with it at the show.

                  Dave,

                  In that price range, I like the Music Hall A15.3, with built-in phono stage.
                  Sounds great on the entry-level ELACs.

                    I have that combo here at home now. The 15.3 is a wonderful integrated amp. Reminds me of a classic Creek 4040 or something. excellent match to both the ELAC B6 and the F5.

                        I've been using and loving various generations of Denon mini systems for years. The included speakers aren't bad but you'll be surprised with the sound quality you'll get using better, much better speakers. Many of my clients with very high end systems love them and use them too.

                        This is latest version that I've heard;

                        https://usa.denon.com/us/product/hifi/mini/dm40

                        Earlier generations UD-M30 & UD-M31 sound the same but lack streaming options.

                          You just reminded me that I bought a similar Denon system for my daughter nearly 10 years ago. It also included an adjustable subwoofer in addition to the satellites. It remains the best $500 system I have ever heard. Kudos to Denon!

                              The mini systems are music only and sound quite a bit better than they're A/V receivers.
