  • Prince RIP, 57 years old...

Pretty sudden, apparently from the flu.

    RIP dude.

Such a huge part of the soundtrack of my life. Incredible live performer and very underrated guitarist. Extremely sad....

And I still never got around to picking up a vinyl copy of purple rain... (although I did get the bluray of the film for $5).

Much to admire about him- his great sense of funk, mixed with hard rock, soul sounds, but very individualistic, his very strong sense of who he was and devotion to his roots. And agreed, his guitar playing was thrilling. Very sad. He leaves a great legacy, including the fact that someone can really do it "their way" and achieve popular success without compromise.

There are a ton of new eBay auctions for the Purple Rain soundtrack album original issue. RIP.

HI Allen. Yes that is the coveted Black album. The one in between Sign of the Times and Lovesexy is the original Bootleg I picked up in 1988 on my honeymoon in London.
The other Black album next to Batman is the actual Warners release when Prince was getting out of his Warners contract and releasing old material to count as albums. He apparently has many albums he has never released stored in the Vault.

Looks like it may turn out to be a drug overdose...percoet
Prince had OD'd on Percocet days before his death, and he ingested so much, EMTs had to administer a "save shot" at the airport where his plane made an emergency landing to save his life.

I'm embarrassed. There's not one Prince album in my collection. Used to though at one time have Purple Rain.

Same here, but I have an excuse....started my current collection from zero back in 2010. I just bought the PR reissue to see how it sounds before springing for the original issue. Same for 1999

                      I have an excuse too!

When I moved in 2003 post-divorce, I got rid of all my albums, mostly rock, that my old kitties had used as a scratching post.
