  • Now That Audio Shows Are Back

Have you ever gone to an audio show and come back feeling that what you heard was better than your home system? If so, what was the occasion?

Yes of course. But it occurred deeply into my system’s aging process along with advancements in the industry. I have almost completely revised my system in the last six years. This is probably where I will stay for quite sometime if not permanently.

Considering the nature of my system I expect to hear things at shows that sound better than my system. However, when I get home and listen to my system, and consider its cost, I'm still completely happy with it. I'm probably more surprised at how often I hear systems at shows that don't sound anywhere near as nice as my system.

That hasn't happened to me in a really long time. At home I have the room dialed in; at shows that rarely happens- even the displays I've manned sound nowhere near as good as at home.

I’ve heard systems that sounded great at shows, but every time I come home from one and listen to my system I actually feel great about mine - haven’t really wanted to make changes.

It should be no surprise that most everyone here has a mature system that performs very well. And being mature, the cost to improve upon it are high. Especially with inflation. But does this have anything to do with a show. Shows seem more a place to gawk, meet people, become exposed, scratxh an itch.

I haven't made it to a show. I was out of town over the Axpona weekend and no friends of mine were going to Munich. And my wife would not like being home working while I am in Europe.

I will be showing at the PNWAF. I hope to find time to walk around.
