  • Is There Such A Thing As A Happy Audiophile?

Better question. How many people are just plain happy in life?

So audio and/or music bring some joy into our lives and escape the real world.. And yes, I have met plenty of happy audiophiles. But they often are successful and happy people in life too. Or have gone through things that make them really appreciate life.

Just seems like all the unhappy ones inhabit the internet like Facebook. And it's way to easy to pile on and trash audiophiles.

With all that I have, if I wasn't happy, there'd be something wrong with me. Audio has little to do with it, but music sure makes things better!

Life is full of daily BS which we all face. I’m a simple idiot thankfully. I have a terrific audio system, lots of music, and most recently I thought my biking was leaving me behind because of poor eyesight, crazy drivers, and impossibly bad roads. But at 71, I made the leap to an indoor trainer combined with my own bike, and Zwift the incredible software that brings biking indoors. I already have a couple hundred miles logged in in just a month. Plus a loving wife who lets me enjoy my audio addiction compliments of our dining room and who now tolerates a racing bike in our bedroom. Let’s not forget my beautiful and loving toy Schnauzer. Life is good.

I'm glad you are still able to ride! So happy Zwift is working for you. I'm the same age as you and have been riding for over 50 years. Life would not be worth living if we couldn't ride.

Thank you Barry. I resisted Zwift and saw it as another indoor exercise bike. My doctor told me for 3 years to get off the road. She’s been Zwifting for years. I persisted and had a bad fall, front tire caught in a road fissure. Got dumped hard. Broken clavicle, broken knee, broken ribs. I rode 3 miles home anyway.🤪 twenty five years serious runner followed by 25 yrs on bike, so 50 years like you.

I´m mostly happy, with no FB or any other "antisocial" media, except audio forums .
And music has to do a lot with my happiness, even when I was very sick, music helped me up.
Every single of my days is filled with music.
                    Best regards,

I have to agree that there is more misinformation on FB than good info. There are a “few” good audio groups on it, but only a few. I do enjoy some of the manufacturer groups where I can learn more about certain products and ask questions. But I must agree that most of it is a cesspool. …

I am quite peaceful now. I think we really do get happier beyond age 50 but having my stereo sorted out has been a real blessing.

Long-term happiness studies talk about the importance of relationships. I have become good friends with three audiophiles and it's just really fun & cool to hang out with them no matter whose stereo we are in front of.

Sharing ideas about audio seems more important that the quality of the playback system in some ways...
