  • YouTube really hi fi?

Attitudes..or real genuine experiences? I have spent the last week with Melody Gardot. In my living room. Playing the most incredible hifidelity soundscapes and intimate vocals and guitar I could imagine, just one step short of being there. I play through an upgraded Oppo 103D into an upgraded Marantz AV8002A preamp, into two power amps...and Emotiva XPA 5 200W per channel for PMC Twenty26 fronts (and a centre) and an upgraded Marantz 8807 into the rears. Its a dream come true. In my living room. That's what's rocking my world right now.

Whilst I wait for too many other items to be delivered 6-8 weeks later...including a 600W two-channel beast of an amp being upgraded, Martin Logan speaker sets for the rears and in-ceilings, my upgraded Finale Galliard 829B tube amp and Cocktail Audio X40 etc.

Right now with Melody in my living room, I'm in love with the experience. What's rockin' your audio world dear friends?

      Nice to have you aboard!

I've always thought one of the missing links in the home audio experience was the video component. Seeing the artists perform always seems to make whatever you are listening to seem far more real. Case in point. The old Eagles live performances.

Is YouTube really hi-fi? Unfortunately no. Compression alone....

Not hi-fi but the video element makes it enjoyable

Well...the same argument is made against mp3 shhhhh...I didn't mean to say that here. Shhhhh...

In my experience through a great hi fi system even mp3 can with certain tracks and recordings...be better than...fill in the blanks yourself.

Myles you have opened something dear to my heart, I love music videos, that are well recorded...they are simply fun, revealing expansive of the music, or way beyond this to be story tellers communicating greatly beyond the music message, ever watch a dance track by any of the classical or modern ballet and contemporary dancers?

Man does not live by music alone...

Do you remember the old The Wall video? Stunning and scary at the same time in its day.

Are you referring to PF's The Wall? The DVD is pretty decent, but we need a BD of this. Alan Parker films are always so damned slow to get a BD release.

I think it was the DVD (though I had it as a VHS tape) we talked about earlier.

Yes I do creepy in just the right way to be confusing...artful and wicked. Beyond this Bollywood do a far better (more dynamic) job of 1) mixing music and 2) combining with vision; their premise is songs come from films...not albums standing in their own right or songs as manifesto's or poetry. They
are embellishments of stories within the film.

So where's the player for this and where's the content...today we are heavily push focused on digital music not digital video

The channels are quite differentiated right now

Lots of mid to higher end dacs trying to what some say vinyl does

Vinyl - such a great record lol excuse me, where can I buy a great music video for my watching pleasure and collection?

Digital media servers are music mainly cos there's too little video content

Yet...musicians make video clips...and largely the only way we receive these in the 'market' is by cable tv with all its quality limitations

This is really screwed up ... and needs to be broken open.

In fact Bollywood makes videos available in the plenty, from every corner shop. And they can go up to blu-ray level.
