Back in the 80's and 90's an audio shop...Salon One Audio, run by Bruce Jacobs, now affiliated with Stillpoints, used to allow home auditioning. Nearly all pieces of equipment...amps, speakers, cables, turntables; you name it, us audio guys got to spend days with top end components at home. Living 2 1/2 hours from Salon One, made visits practical...so several times I loaded my car with Proac's, Threshold amps, Jadis, even a VPI table. Reading the response from a number of Audiogon posters, I would like to audition the Triton grounding systems. Curious what this passive box is doing.

It's been piquing my interest too for quite a while too. Miguel's stuff is pricey but people swear by it. I know Mike and Christian possibly a few other use the Entreq that Paul and Bruce now distribute. Audiocrack also recommended Frank Voon's (from Asia) new product but someone else on the staff beat me to the punch. I don't know of anyone returning the Entreq and it would be interesting to compare the Entreq with the Triton.Myles B. Astor, PhD, Administrator

I've had the Tripoint Troy Signature for a month now, along with one Thor reference cable. I have it connected to all my front end gear.
I also have 2 different Entreq products; the Silver Tellus and the Poseidon boxes.
the Troy Signature is better by approximately the price difference.....at least 4:1 more significant. the Entreq makes subtle but nice differences. the Troy smacks you in the nose with space and nuance. you get the first wave right out of the gate. 'it's not Kansas any more Toto' kinda difference. then 10 days later another wave of almost as powerful a step up.
it's too bad it's so spendy.

Thanks Mike. I know if anyone would have it, you would!
What is the sonic difference between say using a power line conditioner and the Tripoint? Or is it apples and oranges?Myles B. Astor, PhD, Administrator

in my situation I have the Equi=tech 10WQ wall panel system which has a 10kva balanced isolation transformer; the big brother of stand alone line conditioners. and first and foremost it provides isolation from outside power grid noise. and lots of power right the hell now. and by itself the electronics in my system seem to work better. but it also has a ground rod directly connected to it 3 feet from the panel. and every piece of electronics in my system is connected to it's ground through it's ground wire.
the Tripoint Troy Signature weighs 76 solid pounds. it takes the chassis grounding that already exists and supercharges it.....attacking EMI/RFI and seemingly multiplying the degree of grounding solidity. it lowers the noise floor but to my ears it seems to improve the actual performance of the electronics by allowing the power supplies to work better in some way. I'm just guessing about what is happening based on what I'm hearing. nuance and musical flow are noticeably improved as is the vividness of the presentation. space, space, space.
I would say that these 2 products compliment each other.
so more like bread and butter than apples and oranges.Last edited by Mike Lavigne; 02-14-2016, 11:19 PM.

Nice to hear that you are so impressed with the Tripoint components you are using in your system. I never tried any of the Entreq deviced because my gut feeling told me that the Tripoint devices are superior, as they should be because they clearly are more expensive. I am glad that you confirmed my gut feeling because if I understand you correctly the Troy was clearly more effective in your system than the Entreq components.

So who is going to be the first to pay the power company to run a superconductor cable from the substation directly to their house with a custom Mundorf transformer hanging from the pole outside?Micro Seiki SX-8000 table with flywheel, SME 3012R arm, SME 312S arm, Lyra Etna SL and Dynavector XV-1S cartridges, ARC Ref 3 phono stage, Otari MX-55 tape deck, Ampex 350 repros, Roon Nucleus Plus server, PS Audio DSJ DAC, ARC Ref 6 pre, ARC Ref 75 amp, Parasound JC5 amp, JBL 4345 speakers, and Def Tech Ref subs.

hello Audiocrack,
yes, the Tripoint Troy Signature seems to be about 4x as significant a performance boost as the Entreq. obviously these type things are not exactly quantifiable; I'm trying to give my best perception.
and like anything, it's system dependent and I can't say how it works in another system.
I know you have the most Tripoint gear of anyone and I know how much you appreciate it. so far I'd have to confirm all the great things i''ve seen you say about the Tripoint. it is the real deal and not subtle.

I cannot explain how it works (yes, in my numerous phonecalls with Miguel he explained quite a bit about his techniques used in the Emperor and Troy devices but for obvious reasons I cannot repeat them here) but in the two threads I started on the Whatsbestforum I described in detail what both units did in my Genesis 1.1 and Tidal La Assoluta set ups. The differences are profound which should surprise nobody as many audiophiles in the Far East have been using the Troy for many years to their great satisfaction.
I believe both Mike's audio system and my two audio systems are so transparant/revealing that they let you hear very clearly what is going on and what individual components bring to the table. In particular the Tidal LA loudspeakers with their diamond tweeters and diamond midrange woofers are utterly revealing. May I refer to the mentioned threads for those who are interested in finding out what the Tripoint Emperor, Troy and Tripoint grounding cables are doing in my set ups?
Btw, Miguel is on the brink of unleashing a new top if the line grounding cable called the Emperor ground. Miguel is extremely enthusiastic about this new cable. Yes, it will come not cheap and it is not only a huge but also a very heavy grounding cable; however I have learned to trust Miguels ears so I have high hopes that this new grounding cable is going to be something very special.

So....my question in regards to the reported pleasing effects of the Tripoint...have attempts to ground individual components directly to "true ground" been attempted? Subsequent to numerous rave reviews of the Tripoint; knowing it well out of my dollar reach, I did just that. Each electrical component is now grounded to our main water line, a 1" pipe buried approximately eight feet into the ground, via 4 gauge solid copper wiring.
The improvements were clearly realized...lower noise floor, greater delineation, deeper soundstage. Might this grounding be similar, or am I just getting a taste of the Tripoint?Avalon Time, Walker Proscenium, Koetsu Coralstone, Air Tight PC-1 Supreme, Goldfinger Statement, Dalby record weight, Kondo KSL-SFz step-up, Jadis JP80-MC...heavily modified, Convergent Audio JL-2 Black Path, Sony NS999 ES Modwright modded, full loom High Fidelity Ultimate cables, Rel S-5 sub, Stillpoints ultra and 5's, Shun Mook, Dalby footers, Critical Mass bases, Acoustic System Resonators, Magnum Dynalab Etude, Telefunkens throughout, assorted fuses, Furutech outlets, PurePower conditioner.
