  • New Year's Audio Resolutions

    Mine are two-fold.

    1. To write more audio and music reviews this year.

    2. To finally get my music server up and running.

    Mine are simple:

    1. Buy more vinyl than I did last year, which should be easy as 2016 was the worst in the last 10 years.

    2. Expand into non-traditional (for me) genres such as EDM(Electronica), Country/C&W, Rap/Hip-Hop.

Mine are rather simple, speakers and a amp/integrated that is as soon as we get back from vacation, says the boss. OF course her answer could be some sort of diabolical plan.

                  1. Get the Studer A80 fully back in order and get some more tapes
                  2. Continue my hunt for records from Astrée as I am halfway through it with about 30 records still on my wishlist
                  3. Be more selective in my purchases and rediscover some records that have been sleeping for a long time on the shelves

Just ordered a half dozen Astree titles this weekend. Think that brings me up to around 30 or 40 albums. But damn that person who scooped up all the Erato percussion recordings.

complete my restoration projects, dispose of unused miscellany from my hardware closet and finish ripping CDs. A year from now this list will probably look the same

oh you know it. I just loathe projects that never seem to end. conquering procrastination and getting in shape this year will perhaps help.

                      To have some effect on:

                      1. Cleaning all my go-to albums with my new KLAUDIO machine
                      2. Further work on my room including tuning with sound/diffusion products and techniques
                      3. More work on thinning my unused audio closet - a lot has been done but few more to go
                      4. Build my record storage - records are still on the floor in "organized" boxes I pull from - from my move 5 yrs ago
                      5. Oh yeah- I'm not going to buy anything that plugs in or is fed a signal this year- except for maybe my experiment with a tape machine if I can find one locally that suits my interests.
