My daughter just sent me the article about this hall from Wired. What a spectacular design and achievement!

      Saw those pieces too.

Why is it technology and measurements just rarely impress me when it comes to the sound of halls. If you go back to the Beranek acoustics article, the two things that seem to define the better sounding halls is a narrow shape and early side wall reflections.

      Looks pretty though.

Too soon to tell, but I'll know how it sounds next summer. I've always been interested in architectural achievements and with this hall, I think it all depends on how they engineering for acoustical parity. Some of the worlds best halls are both narrow as you noted but also wider as new engineering designs took over. Of note some of the oldest halls noted as the best in the world were built back in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

I think some of it comes down to accommodating larger audiences and hence bigger halls.

I went fishing in Cabo San Lucas a couple weeks ago. Bought a tech magazine to read on the plane. Saw an article on this place. Seems like an amazing performance venue. Got me excited to see more shows at my own local Benaroya Hall.
