You may ask why Chance the Rapper's name pops up in an audiophile forum?? Wanted to see if anyone picked up on this but I haven't seen any discussion on it so I thought I would start a conversation.
Chance won best new artist at the Grammy's the other night. While his musical style may not be targeted to this audience I thought how his music is "sold" would be. His songs are only available via streaming, no physical copies. He has SoundCloud and Apple Music accounts and bypasses all of the traditional modes of distribution.
Will this give streaming the kick in the butt it needs? While I don't know the details of his accounting it would seem that this puts more cash directly in his pocket. Will other artists, seeing that they can get recognition/sales thru streaming take this route?
