  • Resolution obsession

While flying back to NYC from my home in NC WITH scotch in hand
Playing some tunes from my iPhone directly to a jh16 Freak phase Ciems. This occurred to me. Our beloved music has so many sides to it how can one look at only one.
As I play it some tracks are so obviously great while others are horrible not in liking but quality the one per suit some of us me for one obsess over.
How did I get this way surly when I was amid toting on a bong I did not notice as long as it was loud.
As I have progressed it's to a point that when ever I am playing I am wondering if I have better or what I am missing.
Playing some Billy holiday MP3 as it's on iTunes as time goes she gets better or is it the scotch lol.
I'll bet if I keep playing low resolution i just might play much more of some ten thousand or so albums.
While I know others here obsess like me the lucky ones push back on this seemingly OCD obsession.

Now most of the above does not matter much if is this played at low volumes but just try and play a bad tune loud and wow that's not good. Maybe I play to loud
Myles as a reference louder then when I was at your desk place for sure
If I can't play loud why the hell doni have these monsters in my place.

Any thoughts on this obsessed concept.

First of all listening on a plane, crowded, crammed into seats not big enough for a 4 year old, people talking, constant engine and wind noise will make you grateful for any diversion. Were you using noise canceling phones? That will make your MP3 MP2 quality. I have stopped listening to music on a plane in favor of games. Anything to get me thru the torture.

Hahhaa your nkt getting my comment as I meant it.
Foret off I use custom IEMS They have a 30 DB noise canceling so outside noise in first class does nkt matter ewes popping yes. and no I did not pay for fort class but love it all I can hahaha. I was the person in that one seat as you walk in cool spot and drinks are free yippy.
My point is lower resolution allows me to play much more of my music loud then on my speaker rigs
my point is why the hell did I Persue a hobby that clearly limits what music I can play and enjoy. As it is I have so much music I never would have ever bought in the first place but did. Due to its clarity alone and have learned to like it. An acquired taste he a bad place you wet st often that at some point becomes better over time.
Of course a plane is a bad place
but I also used them on trains too but it's nkt what my
      lost is about.
      Thanks for replying

My wife and I travel to Maui once a year, have been for 10 years. We just got back and we would go nuts without or Noise Canceling Headphones,. Although NOT Audiophile quality like my HD800s or my Mr Speaker Flow, our Bose QC35 and QC25 work wonders. 9 1/2 hours non stop from HNL to Atlanta will drive a person nuts with the engine noise and the crying babies. With these headphones, its makes traveling a little more pleasant. Not to mention, great for movies plugged into the plane or music from my iphone.

Babies are muffed out as well as the engines , nothing is 100% perfect but these really help on a 9+ hour direct flight. I just can't deal with playing on a lap top or a ipad for 9 freaking hours straight even using Delta GoGo app to access via ZINIO magazines. So enter movies and my music. After all most of the 200+ people are asleep during an evening and night flight which we always take..

I don't bother with music or movies on flights any longer. Too noisy to really enjoy. I bring my laptop, a book and pickup a few magazines.

On a flight, you would need closed back over the ear phones to kill the sound of the engines to make music listening possible.

I find I can enjoy music most anywhere. Yes the engine noise etc remain but on my flight from NYC to LA I had the headphones in the entire time and Tidal on shuffle. Works for me. Sure, given all the other factors resolution wasn't the best but I do subscribe to the maxim of good music at lower resolution over lesser music at best resolution.

I use Etymotic ER-4's when flying. They seal the ear canal and are more effective and less fatiguing than any noise reducing headphone I've encountered. They even sound rather good if I actually plug them into something.
