I have asked this elsewhere but let's give it a shot here. What is you contentment level of your system as it stands now?

1 = I am very content, I live in audio nirvana.

10 = I am ready to sell it all and take up badminton.

I am a tinkerer by nature so I am always changing something just for the "what if" factor. My core system right now I am at around a 2. What say you?

I'll say I am at 2 as of now in terms of satisfaction with my system.

I think you're always content until you hear something better.

That said, I'm a hard grader so I say 4-ish.

Enter soap box. Life is too short to be doing something you don't enjoy. I really think we should focus on the half full of water eg. isn't it amazing what my system can do and every once in while give a glimpse of reality rather than the half empty glass of water it'll never sound like live music. That's what I especially love about everyone here. Tons of enthusiasm for the hobby bereft of that old cynicism. Step off soap box!

I like your comment Myles. I hope you didn't detect any cynicism in my thread. If I am home I listen to music EVERY day with enthusiasm. My glass is 3/4 full and I am blessed with what I have.

        I'm either a 2 or 3. A few tweaks and I think I can be a 1 pretty easily...

Jack I hope I did not offend you it was the first sport that came to mind. You are the antithesis of my thread, you quit badminton for audio.

No worries Marty Badminton is one of the fastest racquet sports but only when played at a competitive level. It does look dumb in the park I stopped because of injuries. Music kept me sane while I transitioned back to Golf. I just found it funny that yes I am the antithesis

Surprisingly, regardless of the low cost budget nature of my system, I am thoroughly satisfied with the overall sound I get from it. I wouldn't mind a few extra Hz extension at the bottom end, but I totally enjoy the time I spend listening to music on it. Even after time with better gear in for review, stepping back down to my own gear doesn't often make me want to change anything. I appreciate better gear and better systems, but I love what I've put together within my operating budget.

Badminton is a great sport. I thought I was good, and way back in college was asked to assist the instructor in a "competitive badminton" phys ed class. Went great until some freshman from Malaysia asked if he could play against me. Turns out he was some junior national champion or something. Badminton is like the national sport there. I don't think i scored a single point against him in several games the rest of the semester.

In terms of what I own and where I would one day like to take it, probaby a 3.
With regards to enjoyment it's probably a 1.
Sounds a bit contradictory, but I never let the system or any system interfere with my musical enjoyment.
