  • Will This Fly?

You have Audiomart, Audioflea and a couple of other sites now. Kind of a fluff piece because has no details on how Discogs is going to differentiate itself from other sites. OTOH, it does already have site traffic that will help. If these are people who are interested in buying and selling gear.
Discogs founder and CEO Kevin Lewandowski has revealed that new audio equipment database Gearogs is set to become a marketplace in April.

Well if the chicken littles are correct and Hi-End audio is falling down then all these sites are screwed. Sooner or later the inventory of churning equipment will run down and only the really expensive stuff or cheap stuff will be left.

I think that's almost true now Beaur. Have a friend on the east coast looking to get out of audio and he has a mint Walker updated for sale for months for really really low $$ and absolutely no takers.

The Walker is a bit of a niche product and I would expect it to take some time to sell. I also think what people miss is not that it's such a deal from list as most people probably beleive that the seller didn't pay list in the first place so it may not be what it appears. I think the total price matters, i.e. something that's selling for say $20K from a $50K list may not sell as fast as something for $10K on a $15 to $20K list.

Agreed it certainly is a niche product but I think he might be around $20k-$25k so asking price/retail doesn't have much meaning. If I lived in a house with ample room for the table, pump, air bladders I would buy it in a heartbeat. But. I live in a two bedroom condo so it isn't possible and I have now walked away from 3 Walkers because of space issues and two of them were under $20k. Frustration!
